DOT&PF Opens Taylor Highway in Record Time
The Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities today announced the opening of the Taylor Highway.
Due to light, minimal snowfall and the availability of extra equipment, DOT&PF opened the Taylor in record time. This year DOT&PF Maintenance & Operations opened the Taylor Highway in ten days-much less than the three to five weeks usually needed to complete the work. Crews are now working to open the Boundary Spur, estimating it will be open by April 9.
Although the Taylor Highway is now passable, DOT&PF reminds travelers additional work remains to be done. If traveling the Taylor, DOT&PF reminds motorists to have emergency equipment in their vehicles and inform others of travel plans.
