Public invited to attend oil and gas regulations scoping meeting
(Anchorage, AK) – The Division of Oil and Gas will host an open house style public scoping meeting on Monday, June 23, to solicit public input on oil and gas leasing regulations in 11 AAC 83. The meeting will be from 3-6 p.m. at the Dena’ina Civic and Convention Center located at 600 W. 7th Avenue in Anchorage. A formal presentation will be at 3:15 p.m., followed by discussion and public comment, with a wrap-up at 5:40 p.m.
In keeping with Governor Parnell’s Administrative Order No. 266, established for state agencies to use in the review, oversight, adoption, amendment and repeal of regulations, as well as recommending statutory changes, the purpose of this meeting is to gather information from the public, oil and gas lessees and operators, and other interested parties relevant to the Department of Natural Resources’ oil and gas leasing policies and procedures. This scoping meeting will assist the division in drafting revised regulations for managing oil and gas leasing on state land in advance of a formal regulation adoption process under the Administrative Procedures Act. Staff from the division will be available to discuss issues, gather information, and learn more about the public’s concerns.
