Multiple improvement projects underway on Parks Highway

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – As the 2014 construction season gets underway, the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) is working to improve safety and travel capacity and on the Parks Highway. Roadwork is taking place at multiple locations throughout the length of the highway, from the Mat-Su Valley to Fairbanks. Projects include rumble strip installation, resurfacing, construction of passing lanes and reconstruction work.

 ADOT&PF has resources available to travelers; several include estimated wait times, project activities, and hours and days of operation:

Drivers are reminded to travel with caution through construction zones, to observe posted speed limits and to anticipate delays.

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities oversees 254 airports, 11 ferries serving 35 communities, 5,619 miles of highway and 720 public facilities throughout the state of Alaska. The mission of the department is to “Keep Alaska Moving through service and infrastructure.”
