Local government leaders and development practitioners gather to discuss economic development
The Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Economic Development (DCCED) Division of Economic Development (DED) is hosting two educational events on June 18 and 19 for economic development practitioners and municipal, regional, and state government leaders interested in economic development best practices.
The June 18 session, Economic Development for Local Government Leaders, will focus on strategies and tools to support and cultivate local economic opportunity. The June 19 Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) workshop will include information about developing and implementing business retention and expansion services. Discussion will focus on the structure of BRE programs and how to effectively implement BRE programs.
Both events are from 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Dena’ina Center in the Kahtnu room.
Speakers will include: DCCED Commissioner Susan Bell; Dale Wheeldon, CEO, Economic Development Association of British Columbia; Colleen Bond, EDCD Consulting; and, Laith Wardi, President, Executive Pulse, Inc.
The mission of DCCED is to promote a healthy economy, strong communities, and protect consumers in Alaska.
