GCI Becomes One of Only Five Providers in U.S. to Offer Netflix on TiVo
Anchorage, Alaska – GCI announced today that it will add Netflix as an app through GCI TV powered by TiVo. All GCI TiVo customers across Alaska will now be able to access their Netflix accounts through this platform at no additional cost. GCI is one of only five providers out of nearly 1,000 across the U.S. to offer its customers this convenient entertainment option.
“GCI customers have told us they want to have access to all of their entertainment in one place, and we listened,” said GCI Senior Vice President and General Manager of Consumer Services Paul Landes. “GCI is truly leading the charge as one of only five providers in the nation, and the only one in Alaska, to offer this progressive entertainment integration.”
In addition to creating a new way for consumers to enjoy movies and television series, Netflix has recently revolutionized television again by creating Emmy award winning original programming, such as “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black.” Nationwide Netflix users enjoy more than one billion hours of TV shows and movies per month. Adding Netflix access to GCI TV powered by TiVo without any additional cost to consumers reflects GCI’s commitment to using technology and innovation to constantly improve customers’ entertainment experiences.
While Netflix is traditionally accessed through a personal computer, recent research has shown that online video consumption through television sets is on the rise. Providing Netflix through the Emmy-award-winning, personalized recommendation engine TiVo is another way that GCI is staying at the forefront of technology and giving consumers the ability to experience entertainment everywhere.
In addition to Netflix, TiVo offers access to Video On Demand, Amazon Instant Video and Opera TV apps. The convenience of TiVo allows customers to access a vast and growing array of content, from movies to social media feeds, on their television with one device and one remote.
