Begich Statement on Passing of Alaskan Leader Walt Parker

U.S. Senator Mark Begich released a statement today regarding the death of longtime Alaskan Walter Parker.

“Deborah and I were saddened to learn about the passing of longtime Alaskan Walter Parker. When he wasn’t trapping or flying planes, Walt dedicated his time to serving the public in the administrations of several Alaska governors. During his five decades in public service, Walt became known for his ability to find the right balance between developing our resources and protecting Alaska’s outdoors. Walt became a champion of the Arctic as U.S. Arctic Research Commissioner and I always looked forward to seeing him at my Arctic Roundtable meetings. My thoughts are with his friends and family as they mourn his passing and celebrate his lifetime of achievements.”
