Anchorage: Equality March / PrideFestival this Saturday

ANCHORAGE – Identity, Inc., Alaska’s leading lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) advocacy organization, will host the 2014 Equality March and PrideFestival this Saturday, June 14 in downtown Anchorage.

 Alaska PrideFest Week (June 7 to 14) culminates with the Equality March, starting at 11 a.m. outside Snow City Café.
More than 500 people are expected to march in celebration of Alaska’s LGBT movement, including business representatives from BP, Fred Meyer and Providence Hospital.

This festive march will lead spectators and marchers into the popular PrideFestival, held at noon at Delaney Park Strip, on the corner strip of Ninth Avenue and N Street.

This year, 80 vendors have signed up to showcase their products and services at PrideFestival, along with more than 20 main stage acts.
Live performances from Emma Hill, Church of Flaming Funk, Midnight Sun Drag Kings, Melissa Mitchell, Outskirts and Underground Dance Studio will be featured.

At the start of the PrideFestival, Anchorage Assembly member Elvi Gray-Jackson will read this year’s proclamation recognizing Alaska PrideFest Week, a long-standing tradition of the event.

More than 7,000 people are expected to attend.

Identity is pleased to announce the inclusion of many new corporate sponsors of Alaska PrideFest this year, including Continental Subaru, Fred Meyer, Alaska Airlines, Wells Fargo, BP, ConocoPhillips, GCI, KFAT 92.9 FM, the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and the Anchorage Economic Development Corporation, to name a few.
