From the Desk of Mayor Dan Sullivan

Hello Anchorage resident,

Happy Independence Day!

If you are going out on the water this weekend, make sure to take extra precautions. Always wear a life vest and be aware of the strong tides that surround Anchorage.

As you head into the weekend, remember that a fire ban remains in effect for the Anchorage area. This recent warm and dry weather has made the fire risk in the Anchorage bowl extra high. All open burning is banned and the only exceptions are personal use propane, electric and charcoal grills.

Personal firework usage is also prohibited in the Municipality of Anchorage. Fireworks are especially dangerous during this hot and dry period. Keep in mind that July 4th celebrations can be a potentially dangerous and frightening time for pets.

Enjoy your time with family and friends and remain safe!

Sincerely,

Mayor Dan
