First Friday is a Royal Rendezvous with a creative, furry twist!
Anchorage, AK: Caffe’ Darte’ at the Fur Rondy Shop is hosting a First Friday event on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 5pm to 7pm in our historic building on the corner of 4th Avenue and D Street. The event is being called a “Royal Rendezvous” and will feature several pageant winners including: 2013 Fur Rondy Queen and Princesses, Mrs. Alaska, Miss Preteen National Sweetheart, and Mrs. USA. Music will be offered throughout the evening to guests by some of the winners present. Festivities will also include guests presenting awards to the winners of the Miss National Preteen Competition.
Shayla Silva was named Miss Fur Rendezvous and will reign for one year as Rondy Queen. Avery J. and Sierra Rain Begich Slade are Rondy’s two princesses. Miss Rendezvous is a competition for young women who live in Alaska and has a history that dates back to the early 1940’s.
Victoriah Haakenson, Miss Preteen National Sweetheart is 11 years and loves being an Alaskan girl! Most of all she LOVES helping out in her community by experiencing new things and doing community service projects!
George Clark’s Alaskan art will be featured throughout the gallery. George has lived in Anchorage since 1976. He paints acrylics on canvas and also produces giclee prints of most of his paintings. George focuses on Alaskan landscapes, people, buildings, telephone poles, and roads.
Bob Sexton is the owner of High Country Kennels and will join First Friday at the Rondy Shop – along with one of his furrier friends - for the festivities. Fur Rondy’s history was built around sled dog races and Bob volunteers his time to expose more Alaskans and visitors to sled dogs and sled dog racing.
In addition to all the Royal happenings, there will be coffee samples, snacks, and a drawing with prizes.
