Era Alaska Unveils UAF Nanook/UAA Seawolf Plane

Era Aircraft Highlights Partnership Between Era and UAF/UAA

Today, Era Alaska unveiled the first University of Alaska themed commercial airplane in the world. One side of the aircraft is painted with a University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Nanook and UAF colors, the other side with a University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) Seawolf and UAA colors. The plane underscores the strong partnership between Era and the Universities, highlighted by the campuses’ aviation degree programs.

“We are excited about this new aircraft and the partnership it signifies, “Era Alaska CEO Bob Hajdukovich said. “The University aviation degree programs will help Era grow in the future and allow us to showcase how much we value a strong relationship with UAF and UAA. Several of my family members graduated from these schools, as have many of our management team and staff. We are thrilled with the message this sends to our state.”

The plane is a Bombardier Dash 8 model, which seats 37 people and offers full in-flight service. A time-lapse video of the plane being painted is available on our Facebook page at: Facebook.com/EraAlaska

“We cannot thank Era Alaska enough for allowing UAF to grace their aircraft with the Nanook. It just shows their commitment to Alaska students and UAF’s aviation program. We take pride in the partnership UAF has with Era,” said UAF Chancellor Brian Rogers.

UAA Chancellor Tom Case agreed, “This beautiful machine will showcase UAA around our state. We could not be more pleased with Era Alaska’s support in helping create students ready to work in the airline industry. They are a true friend of the University of Alaska.”

The UAF/UAA plane will fly any Era scheduled route.

Era Alaska is the largest regional airline based in the state, offering daily passenger and cargo services to nearly 100 communities across Alaska. All flights are operated on Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft feature full in-flight cabin service.
