Costello Comments on House Bill 50 Signing
Governor signs bill allowing AHFC to permit/ participate in mixed-use housing
Wednesday, June 26, 2013, Anchorage, Alaska – Representative Mia Costello today offered the following statement on her House Bill 50 being signed into law by Governor Parnell. The bill expands the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation’s authority to participate in multi-unit, mixed-use housing projects.
“First, thank you to Governor Parnell for his signature, and to my colleagues in the Legislature for their support,” Costello, R-Anchorage, said. “With House Bill 50, we’re granting AHFC the ability to meet Alaskans’ needs and adapt to our maturing and evolving communities. Alaskans want vibrant, dynamic neighborhoods, and this bill will help. Mixed-use housing is trending, allowing people convenient access to restaurants, child care, and other services within easy distance of their homes. It’s a pro-business, pro-family, pro-community bill and I’m glad it won unanimous bipartisan support.”
HB 50 takes effect Sept. 24.
