Applicants Sought for Sustainable Education Task Force
Interested and qualified Alaskans encouraged to contact Rep. Gattis’ office
Wednesday, June 26, 2013, Wasilla, Alaska – Representative Lynn Gattis, R-Wasilla, is calling on Alaskans interested in public education to submit their applications for appointment to the Sustainable Education Task Force. Gattis is Co-Chair of the task force along with Rep. Tammie Wilson, R-Fairbanks/North Pole.
“We welcome any interested and qualified Alaskan to submit their name and fill out the questionnaire,” Gattis said. “We hope to get up to speed soon and continue the hard work of looking into the ways and means of providing excellent schools for Alaska students.”
Applications will be accepted until June 30 from public members for consideration to the five public seats: two for educators, two for business persons, and one for a representative from either the Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) or from one of the ANCSA regional native corporations.
The task force was created through passage of House Resolution 8 during the past legislative session. The main purpose of the task force is to examine and make recommendations to the State House about the funding of public education.
