Anchorage Chamber of Commerce Organizes Largest Military Appreciation Event in the State

Anchorage Chamber Military Appreciation Week Kicks-Off with
Luncheon on June 10, ends with Picnics on June 14

Anchorage— Anchorage has long enjoyed a rich history and strong relationship with the local military, a billion dollar economic driver. Next week, the business community will pause to say “thank you” to military personnel during the Anchorage Chamber Military Appreciation Week, held from June 10 to 14.

Military Appreciation Luncheon: Noon on Monday, June 10 at the Dena’ina.  The annual luncheon is an opportunity for the business community to show its appreciation to local military personnel and recognize them for their service. Now in its 20th year, more than 600 business professionals and military servicemen and women, from all branches of the Armed Forces, will be in attendance.
Businesses that purchased tables are donating spaces so that servicemen and women stationed in Anchorage can attend. The keynote address will be delivered by Col. Brian Duffy, JBER Commander. At the end of the luncheon, a door prize raffle will be held for the servicemen and women in attendance where they will get a chance to win high-dollar prizes, including two round-trip tickets on Alaska Airlines.
Visit Anchoragechamber.org/militaryluncheon for details. This event is sold out.

Anchorage Chamber Military Appreciation Picnics will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, June 14 at JBER - Elmendorf (Paxton Park) and JBER - Richardson (Buckner Physical Fitness Center).

Members of the local business community will serve 8,000 servicemen, women and their families and pause to say “thank you.”

This family friendly event will have something for everyone, including a free barbeque, games, face painting, children’s activities, live music, Arctic Warrior Olympics (both locations), a military vehicle show and recreational adult events, like “speed ball” (Ft. Richardson).

Visit Anchoragechamber.org/militarypicnics for details. New volunteer opportunities are no longer available.

Base and Post Access:

To be allowed on base or post, contact JBER Media Relations Chief Erin Eaton.  All media must be escorted on base and post.  Contact Erin no later than 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 13 to notify her of your intent to attend.
