Neighbors Fix Up Wolverine Park
ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Saturday June 9 9am-noon, 2012 – Volunteers are transforming Wolverine Park, 1006 W. 75th Ave. Neighbors involved in the Very Important Park (VIP) committee, and Alaska State Legislators representing the Taku/Campbell district will attend.
The Alaska State Legislature funded improvements to Wolverine Park, along with the Rasmuson Foundation, and a group of engaged volunteers from the Taku/Campbell Community Council set the priorities for the revitalized space options.
Volunteers will plant flowers, trim vegetation, paint benches and parking barriers, and remove dead vegetation. New playground surfacing is installed, and new signs are on the way.
This is the third Neighborhood Park Fix-it hosted by the Anchorage Park Foundation and the Anchorage Parks and Recreation Department. “The news here is that neighbors care about their parks. We are building community one neighborhood at a time,” said Beth Nordlund. Five more Neighborhood Park Fix-its are scheduled this summer.
The Anchorage Park Foundation will keep you informed about neighborhood park improvements this summer at www.AnchorageParkFoundation.org, and on facebook.
