Murkowski Wishes Army Happy 237th Birthday
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In recognition of the U.S. Army’s 237th Birthday, Senator Murkowski today wished our nation’s oldest fighting force a happy birthday.
“Today I wish the Army a very happy 237th birthday. We in Alaska feel a special connection to the Army and welcome the Army as family – whether as sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, mothers or fathers,” Murkowski said. “Alaska is home to the first and fourth brigades of the 25th Infantry Division and our own state National Guard forces. You have served gallantly in the recent and past conflicts our nation has faced.
“Just this past year, our soldiers fought and continue to serve bravely on the battlefields in Afghanistan protecting freedom as we try to build a solid foundation for the future in that country. I am so very proud to wish the Army a very happy birthday. Hooah!”
