Hendrickson Tennis Courts
Today a ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the tennis courts in Lyn Ary Park on 2009 Foraker Drive, Anchorage, AK 99517 to dedicate the newly refurbished courts to the Hendrickson family.
In the winter of 2010, Bill Bittner, a board member of the Anchorage Park Foundation, saw an opportunity to resurface the popular neighborhood tennis courts here at the park. When the Anchorage Park Foundation Challenge Grant opened, which was funded by the Rasmuson Foundation, Bittner connected with John Hendrickson of the Anchorage Park Foundation and pitched the idea that their old boyhood neighborhood courts needed work. APF granted them $40,000 for the project, and the Hendricksons contributed $55,000 to resurface the courts in the summer of 2011.
The project is funded and supported by the Anchorage Park Foundation, a nonprofit organization that is hard at work supporting 36 park improvement projects this summer.
“I am very excited to be here today for the ribbon cutting ceremony and I hope that the community enjoys the courts and this park for many years to come” said Mayor Sullivan.
