Governor Parnell Honors Fallen JBER Soldier

June 7, 2012, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell offered his condolences to the family and friends of a JBER soldier who was killed in combat. Private First Class Vincent J. Ellis died of injuries from an improvised explosive device and small arms fire at Forward Operating Base Salerno in Khost Province, Afghanistan on Friday, June 1. Private Ellis died Monday.

“Private Ellis was a courageous soldier who served his nation with honor,” Governor Parnell said. “Sandy and I extend our thoughts and prayers to his family, friends and fellow soldiers during this difficult time.”

Ellis was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
