Fighting for Alaska's Interests in the U.S. Senate
With the national economy still recovering from the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, the Senate continues its focus on helping create jobs for middle class Americans. This week we'll continue work on the Agriculture Reform, Food, and Jobs Act and will move shortly to consider a bill that will help Alaska's small businesses grow.
We are still waiting on the House to pass the transportation bill already approved by the Senate. This bill is will create jobs and send more than a billion dollars to Alaska. The money will be used create thousands of jobs in Alaska by maintaining our essential highways and other transportation links.
I continue to stand up for Alaska's strategic role in the nation's defense by fighting the Air Force's misguided effort to relocate the F16's and drastically reduce overall base operations at Eielson Air Force Base.
With school out and many Alaskans are turning their thinking toward fishing and having fun outside I look forward to returning home next week to spend 4th of July at home.
