Free 3-Day Fairview Gala Set w/Jay King to Perform

Celebration recognizes current and former individuals with connections to Fairview

ANCHORAGE-Hundreds of former Fairview residents in and out-of-state and an equal number of individuals currently living in Anchorage’s historic neighborhood united recently telephonically and formed the “Fairview Old and New School Reunion.”

The group has been meeting for months to plan a three day celebration to recognize the accomplishments of the Fairview community and its people and have planned a 3-day celebration which will kickoff this Friday, June 15th from 6:30 PM to 8 PM with a “Meet and Greet” at the Fairview Recreation Center, 1121, E. 10th Avenue. 

All activities and events are free to the public and will occur at various locations throughout the heart of Fairview. Club Nouveau’s founder, Jay King , who created  new chapter in musical history when he independently produced, pressed, marketed and promoted the million selling smash “Rumors by the Timex Social Club, will emcee Friday night’s “Return of the Metro” social and perform, along with other local talent during Saturday’s all-day (12-10 PM) reunion at the Fairview Lions Park, 1201 E. 8th Avenue.

The formal program will begin at 3 PM with remarks by dignitaries and presentations of community awards: Business/Organization (Non-Profit) – Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge – Alaska, Greater Friendship Baptist Church; Business/Organization (For Profit) – Carrs/Safeway, Lucky Wishbone; Individuals (Living) – Dickie Watts Family, Dr. Louis Overstreet, Charles LeViege, Pastor Alonzo Patterson and John H. Scott (“Scotty”); Individuals (Deceased) – Grady Ward, Ashley Dickerson, Helene Hennings and John S. Parks. 

Vendors and local organizations will have booths set up showcasing their services.
