Chuck Ray Named to Bethel Superior Court
June 20, 2012, Anchorage, Alaska - Governor Sean Parnell today appointed Chuck Ray to the Bethel Superior Court. Ray fills the seat left vacant by the passing of the Honorable Marvin Hamilton III.
“Mr. Ray brings a great deal of experience to his new role,” Governor Parnell said. “I look forward to the contributions he will make to the Bethel Superior Court and the communities in the Yukon-Kuskokwim region.”
Ray has practiced law in Alaska for nearly 30 years and currently manages his own law office. His practice is focused on civil litigation in torts and insurance law with an emphasis on maritime issues. Ray earned his law degree from the University of Oregon Law School after spending nearly a decade as a commercial fisherman in Alaska. He and his wife Jenny have three children.
Alaska’s Superior Courts are trial courts for both civil and criminal cases. They also serve as appellate courts for cases from the district courts and some administrative agencies. Superior courts hear cases involving children, domestic relations and property matters.
