Anchorage Road Project Traffic Delays June 8

1. Seward Hwy btwn. Tudor Rd. and Dowling Rd.

Homer Dr. from Tudor Rd. to north of International Airport Rd. is closed through mid-July.

FUTURE RAMP CLOSURES: The Tudor off-ramp at the Seward Hwy. will be closed from Friday, June 8 at 8:00 PM until Monday, June 11 at 6:00 AM. Expect nightly lane restrictions and short delays on the Seward Hwy. Be alert to new southbound traffic patterns and reduced speed limits between 36th Ave.  to just past the Tudor bridge.

Work is being conducted over Campbell Creek at the New Seward Hwy. bridges. To ensure public safety, the creek will be restricted to all public users at the New Seward bridges through the fall of 2013 due to extremely hazardous work zone conditions. There are multiple in/out access points along the creek which users can exit from before reaching the New Seward Hwy. bridges.

2. Dowling Rd. btwn. C St. and Old Seward Hwy.

Dowling Rd. from A St. to B St. is closed through October. Business access will remain open, please follow construction signs for detour routes.

FUTURE CLOSURE: Beginning Friday, June 8 at 8:00 PM through Sunday, June 10 at 6:00 AM, 56th Ave. will be closed at Cordova St. Business access will remain open.

FUTURE CLOSURE: C St. between 64th Ave. and Potter Dr. will be closed from Friday, June 15 at 8:00 PM through Monday, June 18th at 6:00 AM and again from Friday, June 22 at 8:00 PM until Monday, June 25 at 6:00 AM. Please follow construction signs for detour routes.

FUTURE CLOSURE: Franklin Dr. from Dowling Rd. to Cordova St. is scheduled to be closed to June. Please refer to message boards for updated closure information. Residential access will remain open.

EXTENDED FUTURE CLOSURE: Beginning Monday, June 18th, Dowling Rd. btwn. Old Seward Hwy. and Potter Dr. will be closed through October 16th for bridge replacement work. Bridge work will be conducted during this time and use of Campbell Creek at the Dowling Rd. Bridge will be prohibited until further notice.

Expect intermittent lane closures on C St. from Dowling Rd. to 64th St. Expect intermittent flagging operations, single-lan traffic and short delays on Dowling Rd. Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

Upon completion, there will be new four-lane alignment of Dowling Rd., from B St. to C St. Dowling Rd., between Old Seward Hwy. and B St. will be reseurfaced and widened to include a center turn lane. The Campbell Creek bridge will be replaced and new pedestrian facilities will constructed.

3. Alaska Run For Women (Downtown Area)

On Saturday, June 9th from 6:00 AM - 11:00 AM, drivers should expect multiple lane and road closures in the downtown area for the Alaska Run For Women. The following roads will be impacted:

Expect delays at A/16th and c/16th between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM.

E St. between 16th Ave. and 2nd Ave. will be closed between 8:15 and 10:30 AM. APD officers will allow vehicles to cross E St. when there is a safe break in runners/walkers.

Expect delays crossing E St. and use alternate routes if possible. Please watch for race participants and use caution in the area.

4. Jewel Lake Rd. btwn. 63rd Ave. and Aviation Ave.

Expect nightly intermittent lane restrictions and short delays between 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Be alert to new traffic patterns on Jewel Lake Rd.

5. Victor Rd. btwn. 100th Ave. and Dimond Blvd.

Victor Rd. from 100th Ave. to Kingsford Park will be closed through Monday, July 16. Residential access will remain open. Please follow construction signs for detour routes. Drivers should expect intermittent lane restrictions and utility work between 7:00am - 6:00pm, Monday through Saturday.

Please be alert to heavy equipment and construction workers on the roadway and shoulder. During construction be alert to intermittent lane restrictions and flagging operations.

6. New Girdwood Townsite Improvements

Expect detours and new traffic patterns. Business access will remain open.

7. Glenn Hwy. Eklutna Overpass Repair

The Eklutna overpass on the Glenn Hwy. is closed through Monday, June 18. Beginning Friday, June 9 through Monday, June 11, Glenn Hwy. traffic will be detoured at the Eklutna exits via the on and off ramps.

The southbound lanes of the Glenn Hwy, at Eklutna are scheduled to be closed by 10:00 AM, and the northbound lanes are rescheduled to be closed by 9:00 PM, on Friday. The on and off ramps will remain open at all times and used as a traffic detour.

Be alert to reduced speed limits, single-lane traffic and 24-hour flagging operations.

8. Anchorage Market & Festival

Drivers should expect lane restrictions on W. 3rd Ave. between C St. and E St. on Saturdays and Sundays from 5:00 AM to 6:00 PM through September 9th for the Anchorage Market & Festival. Please use caution in the area and watch for pedestrians.

9. Eklutna River Bridge at Old Glenn Hwy.

The Eklutna River Bridge at Old Glenn Hwy. is closed to vehicular traffic until further notice. Please use alternate routes.

10. E. 64th Ave. at Quinhagak St.

Drivers should expect intermittent closures at the intersection of E. 64th Ave. and Quinhagak St. for utility work. Please follow detour routes.

11. Barrow St. at 8th Ave.

Drivers should expect intermittent closures on Barrow St. btwn. 7th Ave. and 8th Ave. and also on 8th Ave. btwn. A St. and Barrow St. for site construction work. Please follow detour routes.

12. 40th Ave. btwn. Piper St. and Wellness St.

Drivers should expect a full road closure on 40th Ave. between Piper St. and Wellness St. for continued road improvement work. Please watch for construction equipment in the area and follow appropriate detour routes. Resident along 40th Ave. should expect intermittent driveway closures during this time.

40th Ave. pedestrian facilities between Lake Otis Pkwy, and Folker St. will close to bicycle and pedestrian traffic as needed to complete retaining wall and misc. work. Alternating closures of the north and south pedestrian facilities are anticipated until completion of the project. Bicycle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the opposite pedestrian facility.

Local residents on 40th Ave. between Piper St. and Dale St. will have access via Dale St. or Piper St. Residents and businesses along Dale St. will have access via Dale St.

13. G St. btwn. 4th Ave. and 5th Ave.

Drivers should expect an intermittent closure on E. 72nd Ave. btwn. Lake Otis Pkwy. and Scalero Cir. for utility work. At times, residents will have limited access. Please follow detour routes and flagger instructions.

16. Lois Dr. btwn. Benson Blvd. and Northern Lights Blvd.

Drivers should expect a full closure on Lois Dr. btwn. Lake Otis Pkwy. and Benson Blvd. for utility upgrades. Drivers should also expect lane restrictions on Northern Lights Blvd. at Lois Dr. Please use caution in the area and expert possible short delays.

17. W. 4th Ave. btwn K St. and L St.

On Thursday, June 7th from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, drivers should expect a full closure of W. 4th Ave. between K St. and L St. for a Snow City Cafe fundraising event. Please use detour routes.

20. Anchorage Port Access Bridge Repair

Drivers should expect lane restrictions, flagging operations and new traffic patterns on the A-C Couplet Bridge (Anchorage Port Access Bridge) during the following days: - Wednesday, May 9 - Thursday, May 17 through Saturday, May 19 - Monday, May 21 - Wednesday, May 23 through Thursday, May 24 - Tuesday, May 29 through Wednesday, May 30

Bridge inspections will be conducted during these times. Please use extreme caution when traveling through the work zone.

21. Girdwood Wastewater Treatment Facility Construction

Throughout June, 2012, trucks will be transporting gravel to the construction site (off Ruane Rd.) from Portage, via the Seward and Alyeska Highways. During this time, approx. four trucks will deliver gravel at the site each hour between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, seven days a week. This may slow traffic entering and exiting Girdwood and the waste transfer facility located adjacent to the project site.

22. Arctic Blvd. btwn. 36th Ave. and Fireweed Ln.

Drivers should expect intermittent lane closures on Arctic Blvd. between 36th Ave. and Fireweed Ln. from Monday, June 4th through Friday, June 15th between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM Monday through Friday for utility work.

26. Pridefest Parade (Delaney Park Strip area)

On Saturday, June 9th between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM, drivers should expect multiple road closures and delays in the downtown area for the Pridefest Parade. The following roads will be impacted:

9th Ave. and 10th Ave. between I St. and P St. will be closed.

Expect delays on northbound I St. and southbound L St. at 9th Ave. Please use alternate routes.
