TelAlaska Cellular Introduces Cellular Service in Nome

TelAlaska Cellular wireless telephone service will be available for the first time this week in Nome.  Service will be in place in Nome beginning Thursday, June 3 and will be launched with a community event from noon to 7 p.m. at the TelAlaska offices in the Old Federal Building.

Nome is the tenth community to receive cellular service from TelAlaska Cellular.  Service was turned up in Cold Bay, Fort Yukon, Galena, Iliamna, King Cove, Port Lions, Sand Point and Teller in 2009 and in Unalaska/Dutch Harbor last month.  Additional communities will receive service later in 2010.
