PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pacific Seafood, a family owned seafood company based in Portland, Ore., congratulates subsidiary company Island Seafoods of Kodiak, Ala., on earning approved status for the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).

SHARP is a federal recognition program administered by the Alaska Occupational Safety and Health Section (AKOSH) in the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development's Standards and Safety Division. Organizations that partner with AKOSH and achieve SHARP status are likely to experience fewer workplace accidents and reduced workers' compensation insurance costs.
Island Seafoods was approved by labor and workforce commissioner Click Bishop as a result of the company's outstanding employee safety and health programs.
