Littler Mendelson Increases Northern Exposure, Opens Anchorage Office

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Littler Mendelson, P.C. (Littler), the nation's largest employment and labor law firm representing management, today announced the opening of the Firm's 49th office in Anchorage, Alaska. Littler shareholder and Alaska native, Doug Parker, will lead the efforts in building the Anchorage practice. The new addition and local presence is a natural extension to Littler's existing Pacific Northwest practices in Portland and Seattle, providing Alaska employers access to Littler's significant resources on a national level.

"The Firm has tremendous resources to assist employers with practice advice and results for everyday workplace issues."

"We are very proud to expand our services to the state of Alaska," said Marko Mrkonich, president and managing director of the Firm. "Building upon the existing relationships established by Doug and other lawyers of the Firm, enables us to offer Littler's unique perspective and value to Alaska's employers as they face the continuing challenges of complex labor and employment issues," added Mrkonich.

Parker has extensive experience representing employers in Alaska and throughout the Pacific Northwest in all aspects of labor and employment law. He has represented clients across Alaska's key industries in a wide range of traditional labor relations matters, including arbitrations, National Labor Relations Board proceedings and labor negotiations, as well as court proceedings in wrongful discharge, employment discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour and unfair competition. Prior to joining Littler in 2007, Parker practiced in Alaska and has remained active in working with local employers, spending an extended amount of time in Anchorage.

"I am delighted that Littler is opening an office in Anchorage and for the opportunity to drive the success of the practice. Our local presence will provide deeper access to the Firm's labor and employment law knowledge and know-how to Alaskan-based employers, as well as for national and international companies with operations in Alaska," Parker said. "The Firm has tremendous resources to assist employers with practice advice and results for everyday workplace issues."

Parker received his J.D. from Willamette University College of Law and his B.S. from Oregon State University. He is admitted to practice in the Oregon and Alaska state bars, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the U.S. Claims Court (Washington, D.C.).
