SUMMER HOURS

Open Every Day 10am-6pm

FISH FEEDINGS

Every Tuesday and Friday at 4pm in the Marine Room at Pratt Museum

Help feed the intertidal creatures in the aquaria. Fish feeding is fun, free and all are welcome!

HISTORIC HARBOR WALKING TOURS

Fridays and Saturdays, May 28 through August 28 at 3pm

Meet on the Spit at the Pratt Wheelhouse near the Salty Dawg, $5 per person

Join a Museum docent to walk the historic docks of the Homer Harbor while hearing stories of local history, a memorable array of local characters and boats of all types.

BOOK SIGNINGS BY LOCAL AUTHORS

Saturday, June 5 from 10am to 5pm

12 local authors will display and sign their works in the Pratt Museum’s Contemporary Art Gallery. 

OVER THE RIVER AND ACROSS THE FLATS:

A RESEARCHER’S VIEW OF THE FOX RIVER ESTUARY

Thursday, June 10 at 12pm, bring your own lunch, Pratt Lower Level Gallery

This insightful presentation by Coowe Walker is a Pratt Museum “Living by the Tides” presentation.

EDUCATION PROGRAMS

NATURE ART SUMMER WORKSHOP

Monday, June 14 through Friday, June 18, 2pm to 5pm each day

This week long program is open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8. Pre-registration is required, as we are limited to 15 slots.

MARVELOUS MONDAYS

STORIES FOR CHILDREN AND CREATIVE CRAFTS

Mondays: June 21 & 28, July 12, 19 and 26 from 11am to noon

Marvelous Mondays, a children’s story and craft hour is a free summer program open to children of all ages. Books are especially intended for younger age children and their guardians and feature natural history and the cultures of Kachemak Bay as themes.

FACING THE ELEMENTS 2010

Beginning June 18 on Pratt Forest Trail, see schedule below

The Pratt Museum seeks work for its outdoor art exhibit, Facing the Elements, located along the forest trail behind the Museum. This exhibition is completely open to the elements and offers artists the natural surroundings as a unique backdrop.

Monday, June 7 through June 16 10 am - 5:45 pm

Registration at the Pratt Admission Desk ($10 fee), site selection and installation period.

Wednesday, June 16 by 5 pm

Deadline for installation of art, submission of brief artist statement, fee and signed loan agreement.

Friday, June 18 from 5-7 pm

An exhibit celebrating 125 years of commercial fishing in Bristol Bay 1884-2009

Stop by the Museum this summer and watch Dave Seaman of the Wooden Boat Society as he restores a Bristol Bay Double Ender.

KACHEMAK BAY: AN EXPLORATION OF PEOPLE AND PLACE

Pratt Museum permanent exhibit

This innovative exhibit is a complete redesign of the Pratt's main galleries, with Phase I completed in 2004. Community-based videos, photo essays, computer interactives, and visitor-controlled remote video technology take visitors beyond the museum walls to historic and contemporary life around Kachemak Bay, providing an intimate means of understanding people and place.
