New online tool helps calculate injured workers’ disability rates

JUNEAU, Alaska—A new online calculator can help injured workers, employers, claims adjusters and other parties quickly determine an injured worker’s weekly benefit rate. The calculator is for injuries occurring on or after July 1, 2000.

“We get a large volume of calls seeking assistance with calculating disability benefits after a workplace injury,” says Division Director Mike Monagle. “This online tool is intended to help these stakeholders obtain the information they need.”

The calculator is the latest tool implemented by the Division of Workers’ Compensation to provide improved service to stakeholders, which includes electronic injury reports and a new electronic case management system that is improving data collection, decreasing data-entry errors and improving response time.
