Mat-Su Farm Bureau's Annual Farm Tour this Thursday
Interested in agriculture and farming in the Valley? The Mat-Su Farm Bureau "Annual Farm Tour" is this Thursday, July 24th. Ticket sales are slow but growing (no pun intended).
There will be transportation from Anchorage to Palmer Thursday morning. For those in the Valley, the tour actually begins from the Division of Agriculture in Palmer across from the State Fair Grounds. A bus will take participants through farm country and make six stops including at Havemeister Dairy (the last one in the Valley). Pastries and coffee in the morning, and a nice lunch, are also included.
The website to purchase tickets is: www.AlaskaFarmIt.org (PayPal link on right side near bottom of website).
The fee is $70 and all proceeds go to the Mat-Su Farm Bureau and supports "Alaska Grown" efforts and advocacy. It's a good cause and you can learn about crops and produce, weather and soils, technology and where the farm and ranches are in the Valley.
