Verizon Alaska Adds Cell Sites, Opens Anchorage Office and Business, Government Sales Channels

ANCHORAGE, AK. –One month after Verizon activated its industry-leading 4G LTE wireless network in Alaska, the company has added nine new cell sites, opened a regional office in midtown Anchorage and also launched new sales channels, offering products and services by phone, through outside sales teams and at nationally recognized retail locations.

Verizon expanded its Alaska 4G LTE network in June, with the addition of new cell sites in Anchorage and Juneau, part of a continuing effort to build the state’s highest quality, most reliable wireless network. Verizon’s 4G LTE network reaches 65% of Alaskans, including those in Anchorage, Fairbanks, North Pole, Juneau, Eagle River and the Mat-Su Valley, including Big Lake, Wasilla, Palmer, and Chugiak. Through 2013, Verizon will offer data service only via its 4G LTE network while carrying voice traffic on the networks of its Alaskan roaming partners.  Verizon Alaska is the first large-scale, all 4G LTE network in the U.S. and will begin offering new, high-definition voice services on that network in 2014.

The company’s Alaska regional sales office opened in mid-June on Northern Lights Boulevard in Anchorage. Business and Government customers can reach Verizon Wireless sales representatives online at https://www.findmyrep.vzw.com/.

This month, Alaska consumers can purchase tablet computers, jetpacks for mobile Internet, plus routers and other 4G LTE-capable devices that connect to Verizon 4G LTE at national retailers including Best Buy, Costco, Sam’s Club and Walmart. Customers can also purchase by calling Verizon at 1-800-2JOIN-IN.

Verizon  provides more 4G LTE coverage than any other U.S. carrier, now covering 99% of Verizon’s 3G network footprint and 298 million people, or 95% of the U.S. population. Alaska wireless consumers will benefit from joining the network with largest 4G LTE footprint, consistent national pricing and award-winning reliable customer service.

In the coming months, Verizon’s 4G LTE data coverage map will expand to include areas operated by MTA Communications, Copper Valley Wireless and Ketchikan Public Utilities. These organizations have joined Verizon’s 4G LTE in Rural America program; benefitting from the company’s experience with the latest technology and leveraging local Alaskan wireless infrastructure.   Alaskans can also anticipate a smoother wireless experience traveling internationally using 4G LTE beginning in 2014. Verizon will announce new international 4G LTE roaming agreements in the near future.
