United Way of the Tanana Valley Welcomes New Member Agency
Fairbanks, Alaska (AK). The United Way of the Tanana Valley (UWTV) welcomed Thrivalaska as their newest member agency. As a member agency Thrivalaska will receive allocations from upcoming campaigns beginning in 2014, to use towards bettering the Fairbanks community.
“We are pleased to find Thrivalaska’s programs including Head Start Birth to Five and their School Age Program so in line with United Way’s goals of improving education” said Bart Maize, head of The UWTV committee that reviews and recommends new agencies.
Thrivalaska is a parent run, non-profit 501(c)(3) agency that began providing services to families in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1974. Its stated mission is “Helping children and Families Thrive.” Thrivalaska runs a variety of programs, which help enhance child and adult education in the Tanana Valley including Head Start Birth to Five, thread and the Summer Food Program.
Thrivalaska was chosen to be a member agency after applying. The application process occurs every two years and concluded in June.
