Antlerless Moose Permits to be Issued in Nenana
Registration Permit Hunt RM768
Registration permits for the antlerless moose hunt in the Western Tanana Flats in Unit 20A (RM768) will be issued August 7, 2013 in Nenana.
A general moose hunting season will also be held in the Western Tanana Flats. RM768 is a limited registration permit hunt, meaning the hunter must register in person for a permit, and a total of 25 permits will be issued. Hunters must be Alaska Residents, and only one permit will be issued per household.
RM768 will run August 25-January 28, and all permits will be issued at the Nenana Native Council office in Nenana.
“Moose numbers remain high enough in these areas to allow for these permit hunts in addition to the general moose hunting season,” said Area Biologist Don Young.
Permits will be issued 10:00 am until noon on Wednesday, August 7. All permits are issued on a first come, first served basis. Hunters who have killed a moose anywhere in Alaska after July 1, 2013 are not eligible for this hunt.
The line for hunters who wish to register for a permit will originate outside the doors of the Nenana Native Council office (north entrance); individuals must physically maintain their own place in line. Lists of names or numbers will not be honored.
The general moose hunting season in the area is for bulls with spiked, forked, or 50 inch antlers or antlers with 3 brow tines on at least one side. General moose hunting seasons will be held on the Western Tanana Flats September 1-25. Hunters need a license and moose harvest ticket to participate in the general hunts (check the 2012-2013 Hunting Regulations booklet for details).
