The Weekly Coal Production Report has been updated for the week ended June 30, 2012 and month ended June 2012.
For the week ended June 30:
• U.S. coal production totaled approximately 17.7 million short tons (mmst)
• This production estimate is 7.7 percent lower than last week's estimate and
7.9 percent lower than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2011
• Coal production east of the Mississippi River totaled 7.8 mmst
• Coal production west of the Mississippi River totaled 9.9 mmst
• U.S. year-to-date coal production totaled 503.9 mmst, 6.2 percent lower than the
comparable year-to-date coal production in 2011
For the month ended June 2012:
• U.S. coal production totaled approximately 80.5 million short tons (mmst),
this production estimate is 9.2 percent lower than the same month in 2011
• Coal production east of the Mississippi River totaled 35.1 mmst
• Coal production west of the Mississippi River totaled 45.4 mmst
