Sen. Begich to speak on The Middle Class Tax Cut Act – 7:00 AM Alaska time/11:00 am DC time
In continuing his advocacy for tax relief for middle class families, U.S. Senator Mark Begich will speak on the floor of the Senate this morning to urge bipartisan support for a bill to extend the Bush-era tax cuts for millions of American families making under $250,000 a year. The bill would further prevent 300,000 Alaska families from facing a tax increase come January 1.
Sen. Begich has been outspoken that all Americans should be expected to pay their fair share, including the wealthiest 2% of earners, and that Congress must come to a reasonable compromise to ensure that middle class do not continue to pay more so the wealthiest can pay less. If Congress fails to act, at the start of 2013 taxes will go up by an average of $1,600 for 114 million middle class families as a number of tax credits are set to expire.
