Sen. Begich to Address Broadband Session in Anchorage
On Friday, July 27, U.S. Sen. Mark Begich will join in the discussion of broadband and telecommunications needs across Alaska. At 3:15 pm, Sen. Begich will be addressing the Broadband and Telecom Training and Listening Session, hosted by the Federal Communications Commission at Anchorage’s Dena’ina Center.
Geoffrey Blackwell, Chief of the Office of Native Affairs and Policy at the FCC, has been in Alaska the last several days—at the invitation of Sen. Begich—to ensure the FCC has a strong understanding of the telecom needs in the state. Sen. Begich will underscore the continued need for federal investment in telecommunications so every Alaskan can participate in the 21st Century economy. The FCC and the Universal Service Fund have been critical to expanding broadband access around the state.
