Persons with disabilities in Alaska will soon be able to find additional affordable housing thanks to housing assistance competitively awarded to non-profit groups by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  NeighborWorks® Anchorage has been awarded $2,291,100 under the HUD Section 811 program to develop 10 units of quality affordable rental housing for individuals who experience a disability. In addition to the funds awarded for development, this project will have rental assistance contracts which will ensure that the future residents pay no more than 30% of their incomes towards housing costs.   The Section 811 project known as The Roosevelt Apartments will be located in Spenard.  The HUD Section 811 programs provide interest-free capital advances to produce accessible housing, offer rental assistance, and provide supportive services for the elderly and persons with disabilities.  NeighborWorks® Anchorage is working with a variety of local community service providers, as well as the Municipality of Anchorage and Alaska Housing Finance Corporation to ensure that Anchorage responds to the housing needs of our citizens.

NeighborWorks® Anchorage is a non-profit organization, celebrating 30 years of service to the Anchorage community.  We offer quality affordable rental housing for a variety of Anchorage residents.  We provide counseling and loan products, home rehabilitation management services, grants for repair and accessibility, and new construction services.  We’re proud of our history of providing a firm foundation for families and individuals to promote a promise of a brighter future and a place to call home.
