Murkowski Morning Meeting, 7/12/2012 - AK's Legacy Wells, "An Embarrassment to the Federal Government"
U.S. Senate Events
Legacy Wells “An Embarrassment to the Federal Government”
Alaskan Impact: As Senator Murkowski discussed in her speech to the Alaska State Legislature, the federal government drilled 136 exploratory oil and gas wells in the NPR-Alaska – only 16 of which have been properly plugged. Today the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee addressed this issue, with Senator Murkowski pointing out the hypocrisy, saying this “is the type of crime the federal government would fine a private company millions of dollars for.”

Red Tape Tying Us Down
Alaskan Impact: All too often, Alaskan small businesses are punished and fined not for their safety reports, but for how they fill out their reports. A Gallup poll shows that regulations are the biggest problem for small businesses nationwide. Today Congress evaluated ways to cut burdensome red tape that could prevent businesses from hiring new workers.
