U.S. Senate Events

Shopping On Your Smart Phone

Alaskan Impact: With our communities spread out over long distances, Alaskans’ smart phones are critical.  They are phones, e-mail devices, video cameras, TVs – but they can also be stores.  With the introduction of mobile payment methods, merchants across the country can accept payments with a simple swipe on their smart phone – and such payments are expected to top $600 billion world-wide by 2016.

Challenging the Status Quo at TSA

Alaskan Impact: Too often, the TSA's "one size fits all" approach doesn’t work in Alaska – where we frequently need to fly to get around the state.  Senator Murkowski has questioned the TSA’s policies and how they impact Alaskans in recent hearings.  Today the House Homeland Security Committee discussed how to protect Americans without unnecessarily inconveniencing them.
