DNR proposes management alternatives for Nancy Lake Recreation Area
(Anchorage, AK) – The Alaska Department of Natural Resources has developed recommendations and proposed management alternatives for the Nancy Lake State Recreation Area. They include: standards for the Division of Parks & Outdoor Recreation (DPOR) to follow when adjudicating applications for new docks and other structures; recommendations for managing existing docks; and, determining the appropriate type and level of access and future development in the vicinity of Lynx Lake Road and Butterfly Lake Trail.
DPOR is seeking public review and comment on the proposed recommendations and alternatives, which are available at http://dnr.alaska.gov/parks/units/nancylk/planning.htm, along with background information and detailed information on each issue addressed in this phase of the planning process. These proposed recommendations and alternatives, and public input on them, will be considered in the development of a revised management plan for the recreation area. Once the plan is developed, it also will be made available for public comment.
Two open-house meetings will be held to discuss the proposed management recommendations and alternatives. The dates, locations, and times of the meetings are as follows:
- July 24th, Willow, Willow Community Center, 6-8 p.m.
- July 26th, Anchorage, Campbell Creek Science Center, 6-8 p.m.
