ASWCD 2012 Poster Contest Winners


The Anchorage Soil and Water Conservation District has announced the winners of its Annual Poster Contest.  This year's theme What Would Your Garden Grow? asked students to show what they would grow - big enough to feed a community, a garden to feed your family year-round, or an herb garden on a window sill, show us what your garden would grow....

Preschool-1st Grade   1st Place “ Norah Fredenhagen, 7 years old, 1st grade at Northern Lights ABC

                                    2nd Place “ Estella Bailey, 6 years old, 1st grade at Rabbit Creek Elementary

                                    3rd Place - Wyatt Mohs, 6 years old, Kindergarten at Gladys Wood Elem.

2nd-5th Grades             1st Place “ Gwendolyn Mueller, 10 years old, 5th grade at Chugiak Elementary

                                    2nd Place “ Alexis Wright, 11 years old, 5th grade at Turnagain Elementary

                                    3rd Place “ Tia Kay, 11 years old, 5th grade at Bear Valley Elementary

6th-8th Grades             1st Place “ Tabitha Silver, 13 years old, 8th grade at Central Middle School **

                                    2nd Place “ Sophie Wright, 12 years old, 6th grade at Turnagain Elementary

                                    3rd Place “ Alison Bacon, 12 years old, 7th grade at The Learning Farm

9th-12th Grades           1st Place - Rachel Blakeman, 17 years old, 11th grade at West High                                

** This year's grand-prize winner was Tabitha Silver (left), receiving a $100.00 VISA Gift Card.  Congratulations Tabitha!

Grand Prize Runner-Up was Gwendolyn Mueller.  Great talent Gwendolyn!
