Parnell Issues Fourth of July Message
July 4, 2011, Juneau, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell issued the following statement in observance of the Fourth of July national holiday:
“It’s Fourth of July weekend. While we enjoy the freedom of our great state, let’s take time to consider what Independence Day stands for, and why it’s worth celebrating.
“235 years ago, Americans stood against an oppressive government, signing their names to a revolutionary document, the Declaration of Independence. Their courage to act on their convictions – it’s an inspiration to us all.
“We remain thankful to our military members who defend our hard-won freedom.
“Sandy and I wish you and your family a happy Independence Day.”
