Taylor Hooton Foundation Statement on the Death of Yankees Owner George Steinbrenner

Deeply Saddened by the Loss of a True Visionary and Friend of the Foundation

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Don Hooton, President of the Taylor Hooton Foundation, issued this statement on the passing of New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner:

"The Taylor Hooton Foundation mourns the loss of one of the great men in the history of baseball. George Steinbrenner led the transformation of the Yankees franchise back to greatness, winning 11 pennants and seven World Championships. He has been an irreplaceable friend of The Hooton Foundation. From the top down, the Yankee Franchise has been extraordinarily supportive of and passionate about the Foundation's efforts to educate children about the dangers of performance enhancing drugs and this commitment has from the top down, as well as from the players. In this too he, and his family have been visionaries. On behalf of The Hooton Foundation, I offer my condolences to Mr. Steinbrenner's family and friends. We are very saddened by the loss of the great man, and will always remember the work he did to make the Yankee Franchise what it is today."
