Last Call for Joining WTCAK at Hong Kong Food Expo

28 July 2010

Dear WTCAK Members and Friends of the Center:

If your company is involved with food or beverages, you will want to join WTCAK at the Food Expo 2010 in Hong Kong next month. Our friends at the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) are offering Alaskan companies an incentive of nearly US$200 to help offset the cost for your hotel accommodations or airfare, but you must apply for this incentive by 30 July.

For Alaskans seeking to export seafood, beverages, snacks, or other food and beverage products, this show promises to be a very productive experience. This is a major F&B trade show especially important for those seeking to do business in Hong Kong, China, and the rest of Asia. At the show, you'll have the chance to gain insights on the latest F&B trends in Asia, see first-hand what the competition is offering, meet importers and distributors, learn about packaging, labeling, safety and logistics issues, and much more.

At last year's event, over 600 exhibitors from 24 countries participated and more than 340,000 visitors attended the show.

During the WTCAK Trade Mission to China last December, the delegation took part in a briefing with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council at their headquarters. The delegation updated the HKTDC on Alaska's export profile and opportunities, and learned more about the trade promotion activities of the Council. Pictured above are several members of the Alaska delegation. From left to right, UAA professor Dr. Yong Cao, WTCAK executive director Greg Wolf, Alaska State Senator Lyman Hoffman, Alaska State Senator Linda Menard, the HKTDC's head of overseas promotions Ms. Iris Wong, and Alaska State Representative Kurt Olson.
