Governor Parnell Orders Flags Lowered for Former Lawmaker Joyce Munson
July 1, 2010, Anchorage, Alaska - Governor Sean Parnell ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday in honor and memory of former Representative Joyce Munson, who died June 29. She was 79.
"Representative Munson will be remembered for her dedication to public service," Governor Parnell said. "Sandy and I will keep her family and friends in our thoughts and prayers."
Munson was elected to the House of Representatives in 1978 and served until 1980. After leaving the Legislature, she held positions as the deputy director of the Resource Development Council of Alaska, as a public relations and governmental affairs consultant, and as director of the Division of Pioneers Benefits.
Governor Parnell has ordered state flags to be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday, July 7. Flags will be raised to full-staff the following morning.
