Begich Hosts FCC Commissioner for July 4 Senate Recess
Senator's itinerary includes Anchorage, Seward, Fairbanks, Kenai, Cordova
U.S. Sen. Mark Begich will host FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn for a series of discussions and meetings regarding expansion of broadband in Alaska, changes to the Universal Services Fund and other FCC initiatives impacting Alaska. Begich's July recess schedule next week also includes heading to Seward for July 4, visits to Kenai, Cordova and Fairbanks.
Commissioner Clyburn will join Sen. Begich in Alaska in part to learn more about the unique nature of providing telecommunications and expanding broadband in the most remote areas of the country.
Commissioner Clyburn and Sen. Begich will host a roundtable discussion with telecommunications providers Tuesday at 2:30 pm at the UAA/APU Consortium Library in Anchorage and will make a joint appearance at the Cordova Chamber of Commerce Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Reluctant Fisherman Inn. Clyburn is also traveling to Kotzebue and Kiana.
