Dr. John Baciocco earns Certified Physician Executive designation
SITKA, Janurary 30, 2014 – The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) congratulates Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital Deputy Chief of Staff and family physician, Dr. John Baciocco, for recently earning his designation as a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) by the Certifying Commission in Medical Management (CCMM). He was awarded the status of CPE for educational achievements, demonstrated stature as a physician leader and experience in the field of medical management.
The CPE designation indicates that a physician has achieved superior levels of professional excellence and demonstrates effective knowledge and leadership skills in areas such as management, finance, quality control, health law, ethics and communication.
To earn his CPE Dr. Baciocco spent 200 hours over 4 years taking the required courses. Those hours were in addition to his primary commitment: treating patients, as well as additional continuing medical education courses.
Dr. Baciocco said, “I’m proud of having done this training. I have been at SEARHC for 17 ½ years, beginning right out of residency, and this training has helped me to be a better physician leader.” He continued, “I hope this serves as an inspiration for other doctors to consider leadership training in the future.”
