Begich Makes Statement on Net Neutrality Court Case
Begich: Ruling Shows Government Needs to Catch Up with Technology
U.S. Senator Mark Begich offered the following statement on today’s U.S. Appeals Court decision to strike down Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Open Internet Order in a lawsuit challenged by Verizon.
“Today’s court decision presents further proof that communications laws in today’s plugged-in world are not up to the task of governing the rapidly changing broadband sector. It is now up to Congress to provide direction on how to move our nation's communications laws into the 21st century. As a member of the Senate Commerce Committee with jurisdiction over communication laws, I will work with FCC Chairman Wheeler, Commerce Committee Chairman Rockefeller, and with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure that these laws are updated in a way that drives innovation, fosters public safety and protects the needs of consumers.”
