Anchorage Chamber to Release Comprehensive Statewide Education Survey

Anchorage Chamber of Commerce to Review Statewide Teacher Survey Results at Special Lunch

First ever survey of public school educators will be presented at both Anchorage and Juneau Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, January 30.

Anchorage - The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce and Northern Economics will present the results of the first ever comprehensive survey of nearly 1,200-respondent statewide survey of Alaska teachers and an 800 respondent statewide survey of Alaska households on issues facing teachers, students, schools, and communities.

The results will be presented in both in Anchorage and Juneau, at respective chamber of commerce luncheons on Thursday, January 30, 2014. Jonathan King with Northern Economic will present in Anchorage, and Andrew Halcro with the Anchorage Chamber will present in Juneau.

The study was commissioned by the Partnership for Public Education, and its purpose is to provide education-oriented organizations and policymakers with the information necessary to move the statewide conversation beyond politically driven discussions on to discussing actual policy and program solutions that support student learning, engagement, and performance.

“With improving public school outcomes an Anchorage Chamber priority, this is the first step in reconciling what teachers see happening in our schools, and what policy makers believe is happening,” said Andrew Halcro, president of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce.
