Trails Make a Community
MAT-SU—Some 150 trail enthusiasts turned out Dec. 28 to see what all the fun is about at the new cross-country ski trails at Government Peak Recreation Area at Hatcher Pass. In the first race ever at the new nordic ski area, 24 teams signed up for a total of 72 racers.
View the video and hear cowbells ring in the sweep of racers, including trail designer and former Olympic nordic skier Bill Spencer who says "trails make a community." Assembly Members Jim Colver and Warren Keogh and Mayor Larry DeVilbiss cut the ceremonial ribbon alongside Borough Manager John Moosey and members of the community.
