South Korea Country Analysis Brief - January 2013

South Korea, which lacks domestic energy reserves, is one of the world’s top energy importers.  The country was the second largest importer of liquefied natural gas, the third largest importer of coal, and the fifth largest importer of crude oil in 2011.  Despite its lack of resources, South Korea has some of the most advanced oil refineries in the world, and its companies are seeking overseas oil and gas opportunities.
