Full Circle Names Michael J. Smith as CEO

West coast’s leading organic food delivery service taps e-commerce veteran for top post, charging forward on mission to fix our broken food system

SEATTLE, WA – Full Circle, the west coast’s leading organic food delivery service, today announced it has named e-commerce veteran Michael J. Smith as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Smith has held top posts at five other consumer companies, and has a proven track record in e-commerce and direct marketing spanning more than a quarter century. Most recently Smith served as president and CEO of Avelle, the pioneer in online rental of consumer fashion goods. He also held posts as president and CEO of Classmates.com, president of Nordstrom.com and president and CEO of Lands’ End Inc.   He also currently serves on the board of directors for REI, the nations largest consumer co-op.

“Mike Smith is a leader with a proven track record in helping grow businesses, online and off, and we know he will provide the vision and focus our operations need to move to the next level,” said Andrew Stout, founder and chairman of Full Circle. “Full Circle has always been a business that grows with purpose and intentionality. Mike is exactly the type of chief executive we need to bring the good food life to more dinner tables and families in every market we serve.”

Stout, who co-founded the company with his wife Wendy Munroe, plans to step down as CEO, but will remain as chairman and chief farmer, overseeing operations at Full Circle’s 400-acre farm in Carnation, WA.

With more than 18,000 members, Full Circle is the most successful subscription produce company in the United States.  Working with a growing network of farmers, Full Circle delivers farm-fresh, local and organic produce and artisan groceries directly to consumers.

“I am looking forward to working with the Full Circle team to expand the business and extend our offerings to even more customers,” said Smith. “Full Circle has been evolving over the years from a small family farm into a thriving multi-state business, without ever straying from their core values and vision. Andrew and Wendy have built an amazing company, and I am thrilled to support its mission and continued success.”
