Warm And Wet Weather Moving Into South Central Alaska This Weekend, A Series Of Warm And Wet Weather Systems Will Affect South Central Alaska This Weekend. The First System Will Arrive On
Saturday. Precipitation Will Likely Start As Snow Then Transition To Rain During The Day Saturday. The Heaviest Rain Is Expected Sunday Afternoon Through Sunday Night.

Anchorage-Matanuska Valley-Western Kenai Peninsula-Western Prince William Sound-Northeast Prince William Sound-Southeast Prince William Sound-Susitna Valley-Including The Cities Of, Anchorage, Eagle River, Indian, Eklutna, Palmer, Wasilla, Sutton, Chickaloon, Kenai, Soldotna, Homer, Cooper Landing, Whittier, Seward, Girdwood, Moose Pass, Valdez, Thompson Pass, Cordova, Talkeetna, Willow, Cantwell

Flood Watch In Effect Through Monday Morning

 

The National Weather Service In Anchorage Has Issued A Flood Watch For Anchorage, Matanuska Valley, Northeast Prince William Sound, Southeast Prince William Sound, Susitna Valley, Western Kenai Peninsula And Western Prince William Sound.

* Through Noon Monday.

* Primary Cause: Rainfall, Warm Temperatures And Melting Snow.

* Starting Later On Saturday As Snow Turns Over To Rain, There Will Likely Be Significant Water Overflow On Area Rivers And Streams. This Could Lead To Ponding And Minor Flooding Of Low Lying Areas Throughout Southcentral Alaska.

 

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions,  A Flood Watch Means There Is A Potential For Flooding.
 

With Significant Overflow Likely On Southcentral Rivers Through This Weekend, River Ice May Become Unsafe For Travel. Use Caution And Avoid River Travel This Weekend.
